Expectable Motion Unit: Avoiding Hazards From Human Involuntary Motions in Human-Robot Interaction

چکیده

In robotics, many control and planning schemes have been developed to ensure human physical safety in human-robot interaction. The psychological state the expectation towards robot, however, are typically neglected. Even if robot behaviour is regarded as biomechanically safe, humans may still react with a rapid involuntary motion (IM) caused by startle or surprise. Such sudden, uncontrolled motions can jeopardize should be prevented any means. this letter, we propose Expectable Motion Unit (EMU), which ensures that certain probability of IM occurrence not exceeded typical HRI setting. Based on model generated through an experiment 29 participants, establish mapping between velocity, robot-human distance, relative frequency occurrence. This processed real-time capable generator limits velocity during task execution necessary. EMU combined holistic framework integrates both knowledge. A validation showed successfully avoids five out six cases.

Motion Analysis for Human-Robot Interaction

⎯ This paper is to present vision based motion analysis for human-robot interaction, which analyzes camera motion and human motion. Motion of camera is compensated by comparing edge features among consecutive image frames. Candidate regions of human motion are found by differencing between transformed t image and t-1 image. Human motion is finally decided by image features and motion analysis. ...

From Human-Computer Interaction to Human-Robot Social Interaction

Human-Robot Social Interaction became one of active research fields in which researchers from different areas propose solutions and directives leading robots to improve their interactions with humans. In this paper we propose to introduce works in both human robot interaction and human computer interaction and to make a bridge between them, i.e. to integrate emotions and capabilities concepts o...

Initial Studies in Human-Robot-Human Interaction

Often two people must work together physically on a common task, such as lifting and positioning a long board, or, in our model experimental system, turning a two-handled crank. Such tasks involve communication between the people, mediated by the task kinematics and dynamics: each person feels forces and motions produced by the other and derives some meaning from them. Tasks may include a degre...

Safe Motion Planning for Human - Robot Interaction : Design and Experiments

Robots have been successfully employed in industrial settings to improve productivity and perform dangerous or monotonous tasks. More recently, attention has turned to the use of robots to aid humans outside the industrial environment, in places such as the home or office. For example, as the population in the developed world ages, robots that can interact with humans in a safe and friendly man...

Visual identification of biological motion for underwater human-robot interaction

We present an algorithm for underwater robots to visually detect and track human motion. Our objective is to enable human–robot interaction by allowing a robot to follow behind a human moving in (up to) six degrees of freedom. In particular, we have developed a system to allow a robot to detect, track and follow a scuba diver by using frequency-domain detection of biological motion patterns. Th...
